The District offers a wide range of opportunities for student participation on athletic teams at the middle school and high school levels. District middle schools provide four sports for both boys and girls, and teams at the 7th and 8th grade level. District high schools provide 10 sports for both boys and girls, and many sports have freshman, junior varsity, and varsity level teams. High School sports have been very successful in The District, with many teams winning regional and state championships. Many of our athletes have been honored as All-Regional, All-State, All-Academic and All-Americans. Our student-athletes have become successful on the field as well as in the classroom at both the high school and college levels. The District is a member of the Arizona Interscholastic Association and has high schools in both the 5A and 4A conferences.

The Career and Technical Education Department is helping to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st Century, and for their futures. Whether a student’s career and educational path includes a graduate degree, bachelor’s degree, associates degree, military service, or entrance into the workforce immediately after high school, enrollment in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course will enhance the development of this student by preparing him or her for a high performance workforce that is in constant transition.
Comprehensive Gifted Program
(The following information is sourced from http://www.susd.org/district/gifted/documents/SCG%20letter.pdf. For this and more information, please follow the link)
Scottsdale School District has a Comprehensive (Self Contained) Gifted Program that offers a complete gifted curriculum and is designed for students in grades three through eight who have extraordinary academic needs, abilities and intellectual potential found in the top three percent of the population. The program is at four sites: Pima Elementary School for grades 5 and 6, Zuni Elementary School for grades 3, 4, 5, Mohave Middle School for grades 7and 8, and Desert Canyon Middle School for grades 6, 7, 8.
The Comprehensive Gifted Program (CGP) is a full-day program designed for students who need the support and challenge that a peer group of students with similar academic interests and abilities provides. The goal of this program is to provide students who have advanced intellectual, academic, and/or creative capabilities the opportunity to dynamically interact with teachers who specialize in gifted education as well as peers of similar aptitude within a rigorous, interdisciplinary learning environment in order to reach their highest levels of learning and accomplishment.
International Baccalaureate Program
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program, created in 1968, is a very rigorous academic program for juniors and seniors at Desert Mountain High School, which has been an authorized school by the IBO since 1999. The rigorous nature of the program is widely recognized by many selective and highly selective colleges and universities.
