One of the great things about living in Arizona is the inexpensive heating cost in the winter. Having family who grew up in New England, I know they routinely spent over $600 a month in heating costs. This isn’t something we need worry about in the Phoenix area. However, during the summer when temps can reach 110+ our cooling costs can cause our wallet a bit of pain. Fortunately, there is something we can do about this. The same sun that heats up our house and our pool and makes it necessary to park in whatever shade we can find, can also be used to reduce our energy bills.

ASU-RSI Report: Prices of Phoenix Homes Higher in March 2010 than March 2009 – Finally!

“For the first time in three years, the ASU-RSI (Repeat Sales Index) is showing an increase in residential prices: preliminary data for March show that year-over-year, prices for homes in the lower-price and foreclosure segments in Phoenix turned positive.”

Are Bank-owned Homes in the Phoenix Real Estate Market Really a Bargain?

Here’s a question for you: If a significant number of Phoenix homes are bank-owned (“foreclosure properties”) and the bank sells them for less than “market value” (meaning, less than similar homes in the area have sold for), does that pull down the price of non-foreclosure properties in Phoenix? So in the end, the new “market value” – the price at which Phoenix homes sell – is the lower foreclosure price?
